Flint Shrine:
In 2004 The Eden Project held it's first Time Of Gifts winter festival. For this event, and as part of the Cultivating Communities programme, Several artists were invited to create shrines commemorating schemes from around the world which use gardens as tools for regenerating communities and promoting stability. (Read more about Cultivating Communities on the Transforming Violence website).

I was paired with the Flint Urban Gardening and Land Use Corporation of Flint, Michigan, USA. I was able to make contact with several of the volunteers who had been involved directly in regeneration and beautification programmes. (Thank you to Dr Katherine Alaimo, one of the group's founders, who was particularly helpful.)
The shrines were displayed in The Eden Projects Warm Temperate Biome, an enormous glass domed building that houses examples of plants and landscapes from warm temperate zones across the world.
